NFL Football has me sick!!
As I type this the world is in the middle of a pandemic and another civil right’s battle yet I’m taking out the time to speak on trivial matters, because we need to stay sane. Going back 10 years ago my husband told me I was a fair weather fan because I only liked certain players. He told me I needed to choose up….I know he is definitely a hater lol. The hubs is an avid chiefs fan and honestly they had sucked for years and I wasn’t wit it. I refused to jump on their band wagon. Fast forward to a year later when Cam Newton was drafted to the Carolina Panthers. It was then I knew I had found my team! There were mixed reviews and people were hating on him because of the trouble he was mixed up in during college. However, I saw a diamond in the rough. I never like rooting for the obvious superstars. I like those that have grit and allow their talent to speak for themselves. Just like I thought, he came in and was named rookie of the year and smashed record after record. Although our team wasn’t stellar Cam led us to 3 back to back NFC South division championships between 2013-2015 and a Super Bowl appearance in 2015 after an Amazing 15-1 season. From 2016-2019 we only had one winning season (2017) the rest were real life struggles with Cam being hurt for the last 2 seasons. This all led to my current heart break.
In 2019 the new owner decided he was apparently tired of owning a losing team. He fired Ron Rivera, my fave, mid season and began scouting for a new coach. They then chose not to renew my favorite tight end Greg Olsen’s contract and he ended up signing to the Seahawks. Kuechly seemed like he was “forced” into retirement, this is strictly my opinion. They forced Davis to move on a few years prior, along with Stewart. The team as I knew it was no longer. The only hope I had was that they would keep Cam and build around him, but no they chose to stomp on my heart and disrespect my QB at the same time. They left him in a terrible position and he was without a job for months. He rose from the ashes and will now be fighting for a starting job on the Patriots. The cheaters that disgust me, because they cheat for no reason. A team of their caliber does not need a leg up. Nonetheless they are always getting caught up, you would think they were the Browns, but I digress.
Now I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I pray that Cam is able to shut the haters up and does well with Patriots. However, I absolutely do not see any Patriot’s jerseys in my future nor will I be a fan. What a cluster. I am so sad. Just hanging out in limbo with no team to call my own. Wish me luck as I try to find a new home if we indeed have a season. Any recommendations for me??
